The Anna Atkins Project
This project was inspired by Anna Atkins, a 19th century English botanist and photographer. She is often considered to be the first person to publish a book illustrated with photographic images. She used the cyanotype photographic process, which produces this distinctive blue color. Each portrait, inspired by the movement of a particular algae or plant, creates an organic image where both subject and plant are one.
